I am trying to compute a formula that will look total up the Amount in Column B for the previous month and list what the difference is in the month previous to it.
Example
Today is 3/11/2015. I need a formula that will compare the previous month (Feb) to the month prior to it (Jan) and show what the difference is in $$. However, on April 1, 2015, this formula should compare March to Feb.
Does that make sense?

My table in Orange shows what the month over month results should be. Any advice?
how are you calculating your values?? when i filter for period = 1 or 2 i get exactly what my formula returns.
Look for Act Code 3501.
Feb total -$851
Jan total $1251.75
Month over Month that should be a $2,102.75 difference.

... those Feb values are not in the book 4 file you provided. most likely the sumproduct formulas just need to be expanded to cover your entire dataset. the data in book4 uploaded has 19,395 rows. change the number 19395 to however many rows are in your dataset?
