use cell value in path name

    Hello

i am getting data from an Excel-project through the pathname:

    ='S:\Plan og Projektstab\[Flexel 2015 Time.xlsx]Jan'!D19

is it possible to change the path name to instead download a cell value

    i am thinking something like:

    ='S:\& A3 &\[Flexel 2015 Time.xlsx]& A4 &'!D19

I need it works even when the excel sheet is closed

Can be done using the Indirect Function. But it wont work when the file is closed.. Not sure how to do it while the file is closed...

Are you allowed to use 3rd party (free) add ins? If you, download and install one called morefunc. It contains a function called INDIRECT.EXT, which does work on closed sheets. If you can D/L this and once you're ready to go, i'll show you how it works.

no it is not permissible for me to use morefunc at work,

and even if I was it would require that all computers had morefunc if it should work when others open the document?

'Fraid so. It has to be installed on all machines that need to access the file.
