CTRL+C & CTRL+V copy single but pasting tab delimited spaced

This is the strangest thing. I am coping the value of one cell with CTRL+C. Say L1 and the value of L1 is

    ='[blahblah.xls]HL-.TSTT.-Location'!A8

Then I click E1 and I want it to paste there but when I click CTRL+V it paste the data into Cell E1, F1, and G1 but its not duplicated its spaced out like its been tab delimited. Any idea how I did this and how to change it back so that I can copy one cell and paste into only one cell. haha

Sorry if this is a duplicate response...looks like the first one didn't post for some reason.

Sounds like you have a residual Text to Columns setting... I'd just try to reset it, then try again.

If you are copying the *contents* if the cell - using F2/highlight/ctrl C, then going to the next cell and just pressing CTRL V, I have seen this happen as well - it spreads the copied text/formula across a number of cells.

If that is how you copied, then to paste, you need to F2, andthen paste there

Wasn't residuals, if you meant data analysis residuals settings. If something else please elaborate.

Either way for whatever reason it was doing it, it has stopped doing it today once I logged out and logged back in.
