I have an Excel work book from which I am trying to copy paste some waterfall charts into a PowerPoint deck.
The PP deck will not let me paste my chart as a link (although it will paste a hyperlink - not what I want to do). The issue seems to be that the Excel file is not recognized by the PowerPt file. The ppt file seems to consider my Excel file as an un-trusted document. It's a macro enabled Excel file - 2010 with the the extension "filename".xlsm.
I did the following as a test: I opened a new instance of PowerPoint and started w/ a blank presentation, went back to Excel and did the Control C to copy my chart and then back to PPT and Paste Special and Link and no problem at all.
What is the deal here? Why is one instance of PPT recognizing my Excel file, and one is not?
Thanks,
Steve
p.s., when I toggle into PowerPoint, and click Paste Special, the dialog box near the top shows: Source: Unknown Source.
however, if I do this in a new blank Ppt deck, it shows the file name and allows me to paste as Link.
