Extract specific set of data with status "open" and output to another sheet

    Hi team,

Need help with data extraction/look up. Sample attached.

What I am trying to achieve is that I have a list of incident records and status of with Open or Resolved. I am trying to work out if I can run a formula over the record in the sample.xls file and identify the records with the status of open only.

    CURRENT STATE:

The raw data currently show/lists the following columns:
WD, WB, MTH, Reference, Submit Date+, Status* and Status**

    Legend:
    WD - Week Day
    WB - Week Beginning
    MTH - Month
    Reference - Incident Reference
Submit Date - When the incident was submitter
Status - The life cycle of a incident
    Status** - High Open/Resolved status

    FUTURE STATE:

What I would like to achieve from the raw data is to list the records with open status only:
    WD, Reference and Status**

    Three columns only.

    Thank you

I would just filter out Open in first sheet.

But if you want on second sheet then use this:

    1. In sheet2 I've just add column A as row number reference. YOu can hide it if you want.
    2. In sheet1 change Status* and Status** into Status1 and Status2
    3. This will give you flexibility to change sheet2 names in first row to get desired order (You can add or remove columns)
    4. Or add Pivot table as in Sheet3

An alternative, without a helper column. It's an array Formula... confirmed by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to activate the array, not just ENTER. You will know the array is active when you see curly braces { } appear around your formula. If you do not CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER you will get an error or a clearly incorrect answer. Press F2 on that cell and try again.

Thank you zbor, Glenn Kennedy & nflsales much appreciated. Stupid me I should have thought of pivot table d'oh my fault. However thanks again for the help, guidance and formula. I will indeed learn and keep for future use.

    Much appreciated team.

    Thank you,

    Kind regards,
    Ravi
