Unhappy How to separate single letter first name & multiple letter first name in excel'10 column?

    Hi Guys,

I hope someone can solve my issue. I have a long list of First names (C column) and Last names (D column). Some of the First names has single letter and some first names have multiple letters. I would like to separate people who have full first name. Please see my column example given below. Since my list has more than 10k names, Its hard to manually separate them. Some first names are like "B J" and some names like "CP" and some names like "B"

First name Last name My result should be

    Maria Teape Maria
    B Hess
    Theresia Bottema Theresia
    M Johnson
    Rex Vaillant Rex
    L J Mitchell
    B G Cumming
    CP Adlam
    Sue McCrystal Sue

    Much appreciated.

    Thanks

Re: How to separate single letter first name & multiple letter first name in excel'10 colu

Hi there, I hope you are the best person to answer my next query too. You solved my previous query about IF function couple of months ago. I again have a list of names now that needs salutation column. Do you know how to bring the 'result 1' column using some formula? Please see my data list below. I tried the formula you mentioned earlier and that didn't work, as I have a title column too this time and also not all the cells have a title content. some of them don't have title field.. Do you get what I mean?
    Thnks heaps..

title firstname surname result 1 result 2
Mr D Eggers Mr Eggers Dear Mr Eggers
    Linda Belcher Linda Dear Linda
Ms Dorothy Bogers Ms Bogers Dear Ms Bogers
Mr Graeme Stewart Mr Stewart Dear Mr Stewart
    Derek Johnston Derek Dear Derek
Mrs Kerri Major Mrs Major Dear Mrs Major

Mr & Mrs David & Margaret Cross Mr & Mrs Cross Dear Mr & Mrs Cross
