making different parts of series chart different color

Hello. If I have a line chart with dates, how can I make different years, different colors?

Hello Amma,

Go to your line chart, click on line then click again on line, a particular year will be selected now and now you can format accordingly.

Usually if you right click on the line itself in the graph and select Format data series it will let you change
the colour of that line?

If you face any problem, follow the below steps.


Select On line of the chart. (See Below).

Then try to select particular any year by doing another click (See as I have selected 2019)

Do right click now, and go to Outline to change the color of the line.

Here you go, You are now done. (I am also done as i have changed the 2019 year line to Red).

depending on the criteria for line colour you could just use the "Vary colors by point" option.

Format line, Marker fill, Vary colors by point.

Note you do not need to have a marker displayed.
