Conditional Formatting Cells with Multiple Font Colours

I have cells that contain relatively long strings of text, and different words within each cell are different font colours. When I try and apply a conditional format that should make the font colour black, the multi-colours remain. Am I missing something or is Excel simply not smart enough to override multi-coloured text?

I know the formula/application aren't erroneous, because the conditional format also removes boldness (and it works).

Just want to know if I'm wasting my time trying to figure out the colours-->black.

    Thanks in advance.

Re: Conditional Formatting Cells with Multiple Font Colours

I thought changing colours within a cell was only possible via VBA...?

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

I was able to do it the old-fashioned way, just highlighting portions of the text and changing the font colour.

Re: Conditional Formatting Cells with Multiple Font Colours

It appears that the conditional formatting of font colour only applies if multiple font colours have not been manually applied to the text in the cell before the Conditional formatting takes place. If the text in a cell is all the same colour applied manually, Conditional Formatting will change the font colour to the desired colour if the conditions to trigger the Conditional Formatting are met.
