    Extracting info from massive spreadsheet!!!!

    Hi All,
I'm a newcomer to this site, and wanted to ask for some advice to get me started...

At work my colleague has a ridiculously large spreadsheet from where he controls all forms of planning (operational, financial, OTD etc). As such the amount of information (number of columns) is large and I generally only ever need to print out what is required for myself (operational aspects). Bearing in mind the spreadsheet is a live document on the network, and I cant take ultimate control of how it is run/set-up, which is the most efficient and straight forward way to extract the relevant columns for printing/exporting, without manually selecting/deselecting each time?

Thanks to you all in advance for any guidance you can provide.

    Hi Dandoozle,

    Welcome to the forum!

It would be easier for us to understand your requirement.

Please post a dummy file with not more than 100 rows with the expected outcome.

    Regards,
    AM

    Depending on how it's organized.

Maybe a Pivot table is way to go where you can easily drag & drop desired columns and then you can analyze it and print it.

Re: Extracting info from massive spreadsheet!!!!

    Hi AM,

I don't have a copy of the file unfortunately, but say for instance the spreadsheet has 30 columns, and I wanted to print columns 1-3, 7, 11, 12, 26-29, is there a way to extract these columns into a separate sheet that has formatted column widths etc?

Basically the info I'm trying to extract in a suitable format is for daily tasks, i.e. an operational list...wondered if it would need a macro to run it into a separate worksheet? Note: because the sheet is a databank of all complete and incomplete operational tasks for the year, I have to filter the sheet using columns for 'date start' and 'date due'.

    Hope this makes sense?
