Excel selects multiple cells and seems to sum when adding = and /

    Hi,
One of my users is kind of heavy on the excel usage, but now he has a strange problem.

If he opens a excel workbook, select a cell, type = excel automaticly selects a long list of cells and adds for example A10:A423

He sendt me the same excel book and if I do the same, nothing happens.

    Please help

    Br

    John

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.

Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.

To change a Title go to your first post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

Please make sure you change the title and use the appropriate title from next time onward.

Besides that, Make sure the ALT key is not pressed on your friends' system.

    Cheers!!!

Sorry about the title... I'll make sure I keep to the rules on my next post.

ALT is not pressed, this is a picture of a clean workbook.

The only thing I did was to open a new workbook, type 300 in one cell and 100 in the other,
in the third cell i entered = and selected the cell containing 300.
