Graph by dates

Hi, i'm sure this is a simple one but... I can't figure it out.

I have a list of dates, these dates represent sales, as you can see there are duplicate dates, each individual date is a sale, so multiple sales on each day.

This data runs from 2011 - 2015, I want to group and graph the data month by month and show year by year, e.g. - http://peltiertech.com/wp-content/im...ydate_grp2.png

Why? I want to be able to compare historic sales each month for seasonality.

How would I do this? thanks in advance

Thanks Bebo, appreciate it... see attached, the sales volume is sort of redundant, I've tried entering 1 in each to see if that works. Essentially each of the dates is a sale. But it doesn't appear to work, I'm a novice at this!Book1.xlsx

Ignore sales volume, each date is counted 1?
