I have a 30 rows of items that were purchased from 4 different vendors. I need to sort them by vendor and with total at the bottom of each vendor. I have included an example of what I am trying to do, however I manually put it in.

Enter all your data,
If you want to sort it and subtotal under each its better to do this as just data entry and not a table, as you can then select all your data, and under data hit Sub total and define your criteria and how you want it to look and it will do what you did manually.
OR keeping your data in the table format this is how I would do it and it doesn't require you to sort your data at all.
Filter your data by vendor you want to look at...eg//amazon
On the bottom row under where you want your total (cost or qty or whatever) with your data still filtered, you can hit autosum and it will create a subtotal.
When you remove your filter the subtotal will change to the total of all of it, and if you filter into a different vendor the subtotal will calculate only whats filtered in your table.
Hope that works.
A Pivot Table would seem to be a natural solution to your problem.
See the enclosed.
