Excel not calculating - NOT AN AUTOMATIC/MANUAL CALCULATION ISSUE

In my Excel file, when I re-calculate the file, sometimes the cells do not update. This is not a manual calculation problem..I hit recalculate all and it still does not work. When I click into the cell or hit F2 to go into the cell, then hit Enter, the formula will update.

So for some reason, it will not calculate unless I go into the formula and hit enter. Any ideas?

Hi jkj115,

Please check in the Options > Formulas > Calculation Options
On the Radio Button, change to 'Automatic'.

Maybe a text/number problem?
You see a number and excel sees it as text.
If you hit enter or F2 text becomes a number.

Thanks but I don't think that is it bc if I close and re-open the files it will update. So the problem is sporatic
