Sort & Filter in Protected Sheet

Hello.

I have a table in my spreadsheet from A to O.

I want to password protect the sheet but only lock cells in columns C to N. Therefore anyone can still edit A,B and O.

However I would also like to be able to sort and filter any column.

If I check sort, and use autofilter when protecting sheet. Just filtering works, sorting does not.

How can I solve this

You will have to unprotect the worksheet in order to sort a range that has both protected and unprotected cells.

That's a shame.

I did a slight work around: For the entire table, created a 'Allow Users to Edit Range', then when protecting the sheet; deselected the option to select locked cells.


What does the option of Sort actually do when you protect sheets then?

The SORT selection allows you to sort the unprotected cells in a protected worksheet. Without SORT selected when protecting, sorting isn't available to you.
