Drop down list - allow ability to enter something not on list

I've only just discovered being bale to create list in cells - helping the user choose their input

This is great. Except, is it possible to allow the user to input something else NOT on the list?
I've tried and it doesn't seem possible

    Any helps would be great

    Thanks

Untick "Show error alert after invalid data is entered" on the Error Alart tab.

Seems a little pointless having Data Validation on and not enforcing it though.

In the DV setup window, open the tab for Error Alert and unclick the box to show error alert after invalid message entered.

I understand the requirement. However, if you intend/need to analyse the data, then random data input is often not very helpful.

Whatever, you can do what you need to do

@popipipo: neat. I'd be inclined to use INDEX rather than OFFSET for the Dynamic Named Range. OFFSET is volatile, whereas INDEX is not.
