    Help with Conditional Formatting

This should be simple but the answer eludes me!!

What I need is a conditional formatting that does 2 things:

1 - If the cell before the current cell is $-, then highlight the current cell in RED
2 - If the Cell following the current cell is $-, then highlight the current cell in GREEN

Basically the a Rent Roll where the Monthly rents for each lease move monthly from Column A to Z (A crossed the columns) and the Leases IDs move 1 to 5 (down the rows). I have data back to Jan 2006 to Present for all the leases. What I want to do is HIGHLIGHT were the Leases came on the books (So, When we started paying rent) AND when they fell off (when we stopped paying rent).

The main table of data goes from D3:DS697

    $- $2,211 $1,839 $1,863 $1,863 $2,458 $- $- $- $-
    $1,769 $1,743 $1,709 $1,797 $1,783 $1,753 $1,753 $1,753 $- $-
    $- $2,022 $3,066 $3,066 $1,978 $- $- $- $- $-
    $- $1,337 $3,727 $1,546 $1,470 $84 $- $- $- $-
    $- $- $- $- $- $5,884 $3,165 $4,411 $45 $-
    $- $- $- $- $- $3,588 $2,172 $3,110 $- $-
    $- $- $- $- $- $- $33,205 $87,654 $85,386 $83,667
    $- $- $- $- $- $- $2,285 $1,737 $2,618 $-
    $- $- $- $- $- $- $- $- $- $-

    Maybe something like this

    $- $2,211 $1,839 $1,863 $1,863 $2,458 $- $- $- $-
    $1,769 $1,743 $1,709 $1,797 $1,783 $1,753 $1,753 $1,753 $- $-
    $- $2,022 $3,066 $3,066 $1,978 $- $- $- $- $-
    $- $1,337 $3,727 $1,546 $1,470 $84 $- $- $- $-
    $- $- $- $- $- $5,884 $3,165 $4,411 $45 $-
    $- $- $- $- $- $3,588 $2,172 $3,110 $- $-
    $- $- $- $- $- $- $33,205 $87,654 $85,386 $83,667
    $- $- $- $- $- $- $2,285 $1,737 $2,618 $-
    $- $- $- $- $- $- $- $- $- $-

2 - If the Cell following the current cell is $-, then highlight the current cell in GREEN

What happens if there is a $- both BEFORE and AFTER the current cell?
Should it turn red or green?

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

Meaning there was only rent paid in 1 month? The Red would take precedence, I guess! Or maybe we turn that a different color all together like BLUE??
