    how to split date and time in excel

    Hi everyone,

    I have date and time values in single cell.

    Example: 6/9/2015 1:18:47 PM

    I want to split date and time separately into 2 different cells.

    =INT(A1) and =A1-INT(A1)

    Select the cell B1 and write the formula to extract date from cell A1.
    for date

    =INT(A1), press enter.

    Format this cell as “mm/dd/yyyy”.
    To format the cell, press the key “CTRL+1”.
    The “Format Cells” dialog box will appear.
    In the “Number” tab select “Custom” in the type box, type the date format as DD/MM/YYYY.
    Click OK.


    For time

    Select the cell B1 and write the formula to extract time from cell A1.
    =MOD (A1, 1), press enter.

    Format this cell as “h:mm”.
    To format the cell, press the key “CTRL+1”.
    The “Format Cells” dialog box will appear.
    In the “Number” tab select “Custom” in the type box, type the date format as “h:mm”.
    Click OK.
