Embedding Hyperlink

I've been trying to embed several Hyperlinks to the web from a workbook on my laptop.
I click on insert on the ribbon.
Click on links.
Click on existing file or web page on the left in the dialogue box.
Paste in the web address and click OK and the link is created on my worksheet.
When I click on the cell Excel tells me there is no registered program to open this file.

I'm stuck....

I used different sites and the technique works fine. The site had a broken link.
Once again I'm getting the message
'There is no registered program to open up this file'

I thought it was just one site that was causing the problem but now I can' t embed a link on any of my workbooks. I was able to hyperlink to anywhere but one site yesterday but now I have no functionality. I've looked in the Excel Options and there are no special settings that I can see that would prohibit Excel from linking to the web. Once again I'm just stuck.

I've never had the problem myself, so haven't used this technique, but it sounds like it addresses your problem. One warning - the instructions imply that it will reset all excel settings to their default, so if you've made any manual changes to the registry, etc, then you'll want to back them up first.
