Problem deleting worksheet

I am currently working on an Excel Workbook and wish to delete one of the worksheets from it. I have tried right clicking on the worksheet tab but the delete button is greyed out. I have tried selecting the worksheet, going to the home tab at the top of the screen and selecting delete which allows my to delete cells, columns and rows but again the delete worksheet button is greyed out. Any help with this problem very much appreciated. I am using Windows 7 and Microsoft Office version 2007

Is the workbook protected for sharing? This has the effect of greying out the delete option.

Is the sheet, or the workbook, protected at all?

Hi mrice, I don't believe the workbook is protected. One of the worksheets is protected but I tried removing the protection and doing the delete. It never made any difference. Sorry, forgot to mention that in my original post
