define name of multiple cells, in different locations? for Drop down list?

I am trying to make a drop down list in one cell that is an indirect reference to a cell just to the left of it. The name in the drop down list in the cell just to the left is defined name of multiple cells, in random places on one sheet. Wont work for some reason? Does a drop down list have to come from a cluster of cells, in one location?

No, it doesnt. What do the named ranges look like?
How are you structuring the INDIRECT()
Can you upload a small (clean) sample workbook (not a pic) of what you are working with, and what your expected outcome would look like.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Defined name looks like this "=Data!$D$497,Data!$D$481,Data!$D$638,Data!$D$631,Data!$D$612,Data!$D$604,Data!$D$459,Data!$D$460,Data!$D$461,Data!$D$462" Named "LightingOutlets".

Data Validation in Cell D7 looks like this "=INDIRECT(SUBSTITUTE($C7," ",""))" Referring to a name in a drop down list in C7. I'll try and post the spreadsheet.
