I'm looking for a formula to get the name of the column when any letter or number is placed in the crossing row.
In my attachment I would like a formula to find the x (or any letters or numbers) and output what spot that person is in.

I4 = ="spot "&match("x",$C4:$G4,0) and drag down.
Notice my main language is not English.

Both work great, however, currently it will only find whatever its told. Is there a way to make it find anything that is put in there including "x"s.
Maybe some If statements with all the possible inputs.
Give in your file a couple of examples and please add the expected result manualy in your file.
Here is what they normally type, they do numbers sometimes because there is more than one position per machine or place they are telling them to go.

That gets the job done! Does that macro only run when I tell it to? or is there a way to make a button in a cell to run it. I'm quite new to macros and trying to learn all the functions is quite the task haha.

Ok thank you much, I did find a way to use a command button in the activeX section so I solved that one. Thanks for the help, I'm going to start learning macros so I can eventually try this on my own.

Ah I never read forum rules that one is my bad, I did however figure out how to get around the #REF errors by adding a copy and paste to the end of the macro into a different sheet.
Please share it on the forum, for the benefit of all forummembers.
