    Where do the starting figures (31, 14, 20 & 25) come from?

They are coming randomly, they dont have a specific logical explanation.

??? In what cell do you want them to appear, as a starting point for the calculation?

    Should C10 have been 12, not 11?

So it works like this, when CC changes from 11 to 12, CC2 starts from 11 again. why do you say it should be 12?

    Re: Excel upper limit 12

    PC CC CC2 NT TP
    xx1 11 11 1 31
    xx1 11 11 2 31
    xx1 11 11 3 31

I think you need to tell us more. Right now, it sounds like what you want is: count the number of occurrences of each unique combination of CC and CC2. If the count is 1, put in any random number between 1 and 12. If the count is more than 1, put 12 in each case, except the last one - where a random number between 1 nad 12 is entered.

is that REALLY what you want????

I missed your last post. I am simply struggling to try to figure out if there is ANY pattern to what you want....

    Re: Excel upper limit 12

Sorry about the confusion, well here is what I looking for,
in the Data table, E3 has a value of 31, but I can only have a maximum value of 12 in E3, the remainder in this case is 19, now a new row is to be added in which all the values are the same except the value in E4, E4 will have 12 in this case, another row to be added but in this case, E5 will be only 7.
See how 31 is split into 12+12+7, as maximum value in col. TP can only be 12

    Re: Excel upper limit 12

So if I manually enter a value of 27 in col A, it should generate 3 rows where everything is the same but the TP is 12 for row 1, 12 for row 2, and 3 for row 3.

Now we're getting somewhere. Please re-post your sheet showing excactly how you will enter the value of 27 (and other values) in column A.

    Re: Excel upper limit 12

This is driving me crazy!! Is there any relationship between CC and CC2 and the expected result? If there is... shouldn't D20 and D21 be the same?????

    Re: Excel upper limit 12

I am really sorry about the confusion Glenn, no connection between any of them, please see this file. Disregard the data table for a moment, For example, CC is the state, cc2 is the city. so in this case b15, is the state, c15 is the city, and there are 31 items to be delivered there. However the mail guys can only take 12 at a time, hence rows 15, 16 and 17 are there. Now in row 18, the state is the same but the city changed, hence cc is still 11 but cc2 is 12, and the items to be delivered is 14 that means 2 rows, 1 for 12 and 1 for 2 items.
Next, the state changes from 11 to 12 and so on.

    Hope this helps clearing out.

    Hi tutmankmn ,

. Can you please supply 2 sheets. Call one the "Before" and the other the "After".
. The Before should look as it is "at the start" that is to say before anything is done. The data must not be real, but it should be representative of the type and format of actual data.
. The After should be filled in by you to look exactly as it should after the running of any code, or formula we give you, based on the actual test data you give in the Before. ( And tell us again what it is you do which should cause the program to run,( if that is what you want ? ) )

. If you do that and no one else picks the Thread up then I will try to look at it for you later today or early tomorrow.
