Excel selects multiple cells when I click on any single cell.

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if this is something anyone else has come across.
As mentioned in title: Excel selects multiple cells when I click on any single cell. I am unsure if this may be a graphics card compatibility thing or and excel issue?
It only seems to happen in "Page Layout View"

Yes I've seen that in page layout view, switch to normal view and that should correct it.

As my question suggests, I'm aware of this.
In my case however, it isn't an option. I have images in the header that don't appear in normal view, plus I like page layout view better.
I'm thinking on contacting NVIDIA to find out what they know.

You can work around it in page layout view. When you've clicked on the cell and it highlighted many, then use your directional arrows to move and it will stay in one only.

Yep you're right there, I've been doing this for quite some time now. It wears thin believe me.
I will be getting to the bottom of this before it sends me crazy.

Me too. I believe if you google it you find it is a known issue.

I have several sheets on one spreadsheet. It only seems to happen on one of them. It doesn't happen on a brand new sheet or old sheets. Is this the case for you?
Its almost like some type of corruption. There must be some difference between this sheet and the others. At least its a start.

Ok..... New revelation........ I have found that if I click at the top half of the cell it only selects one cell. If I click my mouse half way down the cell or lower it selects the one below.
This has to mean something to somebody? Maybe a link to formatting or something? Will keep you posted!

Re: Excel selects multiple cells when I click on any single cell.

I'm now using 2010 and it seems to have stopped and now that we're discussing it I can't remember the last time it happened. But my workaround was to go to normal view to work then when done go back to page layout view and save it that way.
Maybe the one sheet is a pull forward from 2007? Can you rebuild it from start to see if using a new workbook gets rid of it?

It was a reworked file from 2007 but so were other sheets that aren't doing it.
Unfortunately for me there's way too much work in starting from scratch with macros on other worksheets and such.
