Cannot Insert PDF Object in Excel

Hi All,

I receive an error "Cannot Insert Object" each time when trying to embed a PDF object in Excel 2010. When clicking on 'Change Icon', I notice that no PDF icons were displayed. I've tried possible workarounds by using "Insert -> Object -> Create New - Package" and " Insert -> Object -> Create From File", but none of these worked (see screenshots attached).

I can embed a Word file without any issue, so I'm not sure what the problem might be. Will really appreciate any form of help!

Can you insert the object at all? Or is it just that you can't change the icon to look like a pdf file?

I can insert the PDF, but can't change the icon for PDF files as no icons appear for selection.

I've just tried this (using Insert → Object → Create from File (with display as icon)) and it seemed that I was getting a similar problem, until I saved the Excel file. The embedded pdf object initially showed as the generic 'object' icon, without a label, but when I saved, it changed to the correct pdf icon.

It's for a similar problem in Word, so should apply to Excel too.
