How to change the decimal point on the numeric keypad to a comma

I work using Excel (on a Mac) and need to have numbers separated by a comma. My Belkin numeric keypad only has a decimal point on instead of a comma. Before I installed Excel 2016, I was able to change the decimal point to show as a comma when I typed it. Now, something has reset and I can't change it back to a comma. I have tried the Language & Region - Advanced - Number Separators - changed the full stop for a comma, but it doesn't seem to be working. It is really important for the speed of my work in Excel to be able to press the decimal point on my numeric keypad and for it to read as a comma to separate the numbers I type.
    Hope someone can help.
    Thanks a million.

Couldn't you just change the column 'format' to 'Number, 'Use 1000 seperator (,) within Excel ?

Not sure where it would be for Excel 2016, but try searching for Use system separators in Excel Options --> Advanced and change the settings there.

Thanks so much for your reply. Unfortunately, my company needs the column to be formatted as 'Text'. I changed the decimal point for a comma on my numeric keypad before, but now I have Excel 2016 it doesn't seem to work like that anymore.

You are left with two options then in that case:

    1) Change to a Logitech Keyboard

    or

    2) Change companies

Re: How to change the decimal point on the numeric keypad to a comma

    Hi @Jtec75, @BlindAlley, @quekbc:

I just encountered a related problem on Excel 2016 for Mac. I believe what the software is doing is directly taking input from the NumPad and mapping it to a set of default values, disregarding any special rules which may be defined elsewhere.

I personally just purchased and installed Office 2016 and encountered your problem with a different flavour. I use a Chinese Input software called Q9, which uses the 9 keys on the NumPad as a method to input Chinese. What I'm encountering is every time I hit a number key on the NumPad, Excel is interpreting it as me entering a number, regardless of whether I have my input software open or not. Normally with my input software open, my NumPad should do nothing else but interact with the input software.

I tried replicating this on Office 2016 and had no such problem.

    Very frustrating!!!

(For reference I tested this on OS X Yosemite.)

EDIT: I've posted the issue as a suggestion on the official Excel suggestion forum. Hopefully they look at this problem. Please give it a vote 👍 https://excel.uservoice.com/forums/3...l-2016-for-mac

Thumbs up Re: How to change the decimal point on the numeric keypad to a comma

    I finally figured it out:
I changed the language on my mac to Spanish keyboard and then my numeric keypad registers the decimal point as a comma when pressed.(I then switch languages back at the end of the job with Command L)
