using IF and TEXT in the same formula???

Hi

I want to format some text boxes I have in excel, and I have a formula in the text box to determine what to show in there, but it could be a numeric value or a currency value, So depending on a cell I want the formatting to be correct.

What I have tried is this.......

But just returns an error telling me "the text you entered is not a valid reference or defined name?"

Any ideas on how I can do this?

I get a different error message if I use your formula as it is.
Try adding three closing brackets to the end of that formula and see what that does.

If that doesn't solve the issue, perhaps posting a sample of your workbook would help us understand what's going on.

I did try the 3 brackets and still get the same message, also I tried removing all ending brackets and placing them at the end, and still the error.....

I can get it to work in a cell, just not in a text box, and the text box is being used as a label on a chart......
