Look for all new names in a list

    Hi

I have a list of business names where one business name could be shown more than once but all I want to do is find out each business name represented in the list, cutting out all the duplicates.

See attachment for example, I just cant work out the formula to create the list

    Thanks

    Hi,

Instead of a formula, try the following operations:
    1. Select range of data
    2. Go to Data > Sort & Filter > Advanced
    3. Select option "Copy to another location"
    4. Make sure list range is ok
    5. Select the destination cell in "Copy to"
    6. Check "Unique Records only" and click ok

    Or simply
    1. Data > Remove Duplicates

But you may want to copy the data first if you want to keep the whole list.

If you still would like a formula try array-entering this in B3 and filling down until you get blanks.
    Formula: copy to clipboard

If you aren’t familiar with array-entered formulas array enter means the formula must be committed by simultaneously pressing and holding down Ctrl and Shift while hitting Enter.

But if it's doable GCExcel's approach is simpler and faster.

    This is non-array

    Keep list of names

    Say put in cell C3
    Formula: copy to clipboard

    Copy down

or you can use AGGREGATE? This only work from excel 2010 onward, Won't work if you on excel 2003 or 2007?

    C3
    Formula: copy to clipboard
