###### appearing in excel squares

I have excel squares where i fill in negative values and they appear fine as (number) when i press enter. However, for certain squares after i press enter, they don't appear as (number) but instead they appear as "######". How do i stop this, and what is the problem? I can still see the number when i hover my mouse over these squares, or double click them.
