    working out weekday rates vs weekend rates

    i have a spreadsheet attached that i am trying to get the values for a tenant booking a rental. knowing that weekdays equal sun-thursday and friday and saturday being a weekend. please see column o-r where i am trying to calculate. i think i am close but for some reason row 5 is calculating the checkout day as part of the price. if a tenant checks in on wed and checks out on friday, friday is not counted so it should only count wed and thursday as weekday rates. also there is a discount per day that gets subtracted

    please help as i am stuckrental list.xls

    You need to exclude the check out date from the calculation..

    In P2

    =SUMPRODUCT(--(WEEKDAY(ROW(INDIRECT(J2&":"&K2-1)))=6)+(WEEKDAY(ROW(INDIRECT(J2&":"&K2-1)))=7))

    Copy down

    Maybe,

    P2: =SUM(INDEX(--(WEEKDAY(ROW(INDIRECT(J2&":"&K2-1)))>=6),0))

    R2: =SUM(INDEX(--(WEEKDAY(ROW(INDIRECT(J2&":"&K2-1)))<=5),0))

    or, R2: =L2-P2

    and copy down.
