Trying to create a three-metric scatter plot

I'm trying to create a scatterplot in Excel and am struggling to get it formatted correctly.

I have a lot of employees that have three metrics that are used to measure them. I'd like to create a scatterplot that uses two of these metrics to determine where their 'dot' goes, and use the third metric to determine formatting for that point (color differences based on their result). This would help me identify outliers across the board.

I'm struggling to do a few things:
    1) How do I add the additional axis' that stretch across the chart at the median values? (The giant + in the middle of the chart that break it into quadrants)
    2) How do I (or can I) format the dots on the chart based on a third value?
    3) How do I attach a name to each data point so I can hover over the dot and see the employee it represents? Without having to manually do it?

    Thank you!!

    1) I'm not sure what you mean by this. Do you mean "format the axes so that they cross in the middle?" This should be easily accomplished using the "format axis dialog" and setting the Min, Max, and "axis crosses at" (if necessary) properties to position the current axes where you want them.

    2) Whenever I have done this, I have added each "type" of dot as a separate series. Most of this work is in the spreadsheet. See this tutorial http://peltiertech.com/conditional-f...-excel-charts/ He works through his example using line and column charts, but the same principle applies to scatter charts.

    3) I don't know about the "hover" part, but I usually label data points using Rob Bovey's free "XY chart labeler" add-in (www.appspro.com ).

See where those suggestions get you.

Thank you, steps 1 and 2 worked and I'm well on my way. I'm still trying to figure out how to label my data points, as I can't download additional applications to this computer but that's the smallest of my three concerns. Thanks!
