Sum of two column labels in pivot table

    Folks,

Now, I'm aware of 'Calculated Field' and 'Calculated Item' in pivot tables, but what's the way to go when you need to sum two (out of four..say!) column labels as a calculated field?

See attached. In the pivot table I want a calculate which will sum just Q1+Q2 or Q1+Q3

I get the error saying 'PT formulas can only refer to items in the same field as the calculated item'

    Use Slicer

Thanks zbor, I did think of slicers but that limits the view to just one selected option at a time. In the absence of an alternative feasible solution, that might be the way to go!

    Thanks for your input.

Well, you can always create separate calculations in the original table and add it to the PT as column

Re: Sum of two column labels in pivot table

Yep, that was my very initial thought, but wanted to explore if it was possible within the PT itself.

    I know what you mean.
It should be simple to have option to make calculations with active rows within PT.

Can't you just group them in your pivot table? Then you can subtotal the group
