Conditional formatting dates in a column

    Hi,

I there a possible formula I could add to conditional formatting or other method so that I can highlight the weekend days when I drag a list of dates down a column for say a few months.

Even better if I could add the bank holidays as another colour from a given list of holiday dates

i.e if I add 1/9/15 in cell A1 and drag down so I have a column list of say 3 months, how could I get all the weekend days of Saturday and Sunday to be highlighted any colour.

    Regards
    G

You can use this CF rule for Saturdays and Sundays. Add it in the 1st cell and use Format Painter to apply to any and all other cells. Set the formatting as needed.

I suspect something similar could be applied to include custom (bank) holidays.

    =OR(WEEKDAY(A1)=6;WEEKDAY(A1)=7)

Re: Conditional formatting dates in a column

Many thanks for your prompt reply, just so you know, I had to replace the semi colon and change the day numbers to =OR(WEEKDAY(A1)=7,WEEKDAY(A1)=1) which seems to work !

Any help with adding weekend dates from a list would be helpful if anyone could add any more detail.

    Regards
    G
