Gray out buttons from drop-down menu

    Hello,

I am new to this forum and to programming Excel so any help would be appreciated. Can you break it down into step-by-step instructions until I learned more, thanks.

I am creating a form with a drop-down menu at the top and below there are directions on how to test some equipment with a button that show green for PASS (default) and press the button to show red for FAIL. Is there a way to gray out and lock some of the buttons that do not apply to items in the drop-down menu?

Your description talks about a dropdown menu but also buttons. I don't get the relationship between the two. It would help if you attach your file.

If you are using ActiveX buttons you can gray them out and prevent them from being used by

When you say "form" do you mean a UserForm, or do you mean you using a worksheet as a form?

I have attached an image of the Excel form I am working on. In cell B3. I have the drop-down menu/list and in column G the green rectangles are actual buttons that if you select one it will turn red. If I understand the term UserForm correctly answer is yes.

From looking at your pictures, these are not UserForms but worksheets (tabs).

You haven't provided any information to tell which buttons should be grayed out so I can't give you specifics of how to do it.

Screenshots are almost never helpful. For a specific solution, it would be much better if you provided your actual file.

Re: Gray out buttons from drop-down menu

It depends on which item is selected from the drop down list. It will be of or all of rows 24 thru 29. This weekend I went out and bought Microsoft excel VBA programming, third edition for the absolute beginner. So I am hoping this will also help with the correct terminology when I am asking a question. I have done some programming in JavaScript and have been learning HTML 5 and CSS3. Prior to VBA.
