    Post Index match with duplicates

    Dear Experts,

    Please Find the atachement along with this thread. Excel version is 2007.

    I use index match function to extract data from provided, it contains duplicate load cases name with different load data. Hence we can't call them correctly duplicates to use remove duplicate operation. I want the load cases to remain as it is and resolve the issues.

    Any ideas would be apprecaited.

    Please look into attachement for more details

    Thanks

    Hari

    Hi Hari,

    Can you please elaborate a bit on the expected outcome? What is it that you want to compare and what is the expected result?

    Re: Index match with duplicates

    Hi ,

    Sorry if it not clear in my thread!

    If you look into my spreadsheet it should give enough details on what am trying to achieve.

    From a given data (left in spreadsheet) , I want to extract items Xsp & Ysp matching the load case and wing type (Right in spreadsheet). But there are load cases with same names but different Xsp & Ysp values. When I use Index match function, it is picking the first load case ( of duplicates) that matches.

    But I want it to correctly match.

    Cheers

    Hari

    Re: Index match with duplicates

    Hi,

    Try the following formula in M7:

    {=INDEX($F$7:$F$18,MATCH($L7&$K7,$C$7:$C$18&$B$7:$B$18,0))}

    N7:
    {=INDEX($G$7:$G$18,MATCH($L7&$K7,$C$7:$C$18&$B$7:$B$18,0))}

    both array entered, need to be confirmed by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER

    See the attached file.
