Hi There,
I would like to the number of cells which contain specific text. I am using =countif but the range is on a seperate sheet (tab) does anyone know what i have to do to make it look at a different sheet?

Just start writing your formula then click on the tab your values are in and it will reference that sheet.
BTW, I'm assuming you mean different tab within same workbook. If you mean different workbook then do the same but open the other workbook first and it will link the workbook.
