Looking to use a value returned from a vlookup to return a different value

    Hi,

I'm looking to return a value based on two discrete look up processes and I wonder whether I can put these in the same formula? This would be performed in Column B on Sheet 1.

    So for a simplified example:

    Sheet 1 - Analysis sheet
    Column A = user codes (e.g. 0003)
Column B = the aim is to return a score between (0 - 3) (listed on Sheet 3 - see below)

    Sheet 2 - raw data
    Column A = user codes (e.g. 0003)
Column B = Participant responses; from Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree

Sheet 3 - "Key" for scoring
Column A = Strongly agree to strongly disagree
Column B = the assigned scores for each of the values in Column A

I'm currently calculating this without "sheet 3" and through a number of nested IF statements (and vlookups) however I'm looking for a simpler method as I need to do this process for a number of projects.

    Would really appreciate any guidance.

    Thanks, Greg

    Thanks for the reply.

Please see attached. The actual file is far too large to upload and navigate so I have produced a very simple example file. The discussed columns where the data needs to be pulled from are highlighted in yellow.

None of the PACT IDs on sheet one appear on sheet two, so how are we to match them?

    Hello

Does any one know if a Index and Match would work in this scenario and how it would be done?

    Thanks, Greg
