Question EXCEL linked to WORD - lost connection after copying the folder

    Hello.
I have a problem with my connection between two files. I have .xls file with data and .doc file where I put text and fragments of tables from my excel file. It works good, table update themselves but when I try to copy my folder where there are both files, WORD has still link to the old location and not change it to the new one. Its big problem for me beacuse I must send this files to other person, who will be working on them.
    I have MS Office 2007.
English is not my mother tongue; please excuse any errors on my part.

Instead of copying the folder, try just copying both files and pasting them to the same folder. The links should be maintained.

    @newdoverman
    I tried and it doesn't work. :/
@tim201110 There are these files. At the end of .doc, there are tables with headline "Aktywa" and next - "Pasywa". They're linked to adequate field in .xls
but Im sure that when I upload the files on server, the link just disappeared.

    Target Press_excel.xlsxTarget_Press_word.docx

I couldn't get the Word file to maintain a proper link to the Excel file no matter what I did even after recreating the links manually.

i'd do it this way and without word
    look at yellow cells
you even can link to nesserary strings with INDEX if they are not the same for different years
in this case you have all your reports in only file
PS there is a very useful function SUM
    Attached Files Attached Files

Re: EXCEL linked to WORD - lost connection after copying the folder

I think that there may be something wrong with the Excel file. I couldn't properly open Excel after opening Word and got the prompt to update links which failed. I manually opened the Excel file but I couldn't establish a link that "stuck" and worked. After closing both Excel and Word, I tried to use Excel but it was still "hung up" on the link to Word. Had to reboot in order to use Excel without problems and to delete the downloaded Excel file.

Re: EXCEL linked to WORD - lost connection after copying the folder

I saved both files as MS Word 97-2003 and it is a little better. When I cut and paste files on my computer, Word is changing automatically the source folder. Unfortunately, when I write them on a USB memory, theres a message about bad location but next, I can choose the option of manually indicate the source and it works.
Anyway, thank you for your willingness.
    Cheers
