Need help for creating a system to track attendance

Basically, I was working on a system where a person's name is inserted to a cell or a box of some sort. Now, there's already a list of all the names, and cells for how many days they have attended. Basically, I just want to know if it's possible to make a system where I insert the name, which adds a value to the person's attendance cell, and then the name is deleted without taking the just added value from the cell. Please point me in the right direction.

I think he means to clear the "input box" without deleting the value that is added to the cells. so lets say he has 5 names

name1
name2
name3
name4
name5

if he enters name1 in cell A1, add 5 to attendance of name1
if he enters name2 in cell a1, add 5 to attendance of name2

I have attached a workbook that should do what you asked.
It compares the name you insert in the textbox (after clicking attendance) and if you type the name and it matches, it will add 1 to the value of the column (attendance).

I think this is what you needed?

Also, you can just write new names (or copy them) from your workbook and it should compare them.
I must tell you though, if the workbook is very long (like 500 names or so) it might take a while, as the code i used loops every used row in column A.
