    Adding horizontal (category) axis labels on an X-Y scatter plot

    I have been trying for hours to create an X-Y scatter plot with horizontal labels.
    Below is my data (column A- Horizontal axis and column B- verticle axis). When I try to create XY scatter plot in Excel 2010, horizontal (category) axis labels option is greyed out (disabled?). Exact serial # should be shown on the horizontal axis and vertical axis may be divided into major units of 5 or 10. Please help.

    Wow, that's gonna be a very very long chart or very messy, is this getting you any closer?

    If you want a chart with a category x axis, why are you using a scatter plot? Would it work to use a line chart, with column A as the category axis labels and column B as the Y values, then format the data series as "markers without lines"?

    A line chart appears to be what you require:

    Thank you for your input. I did this. However, after a long research, I found out that it is not possible to use XY scatter plot where horizontal labels can be listed. The only way of doing it is by creating a line plot and hide to the line. Try using XY scatter plot using pivot table. Excel gives error that it can not create an xy scatter plot as horizontal labels can not be listed.

    Yes, it works. Thank you. To make it look like an xy scatter plot, I just removed the lines.
