Updating employee rates with a spreadsheet that contains the date of change and new rate

    Hi everyone!

I have a big excel sheet with all the time entries of employees for 2015, with columns like: employee number, employee name, date of the time entry.

I have another excel sheet that contains the rates of employees as of 1 Jan 2015. Thus, based on the employee number I can Vlookup the rate for each entry as of 1 jan 2015 (Lets call this excel sheet v2).

However, during the year there were rate changes. I have another excel sheet with all the rate changes that contains employee number, employee name, date of rate change, new rate. How can I, using this excelsheet, update the sheet v2 so that every time entry is paired with the correct rate?

Thank you in advance for the help. If any questions please let me know.

Can you attach a desensitized copy of what you have and what you want (before/after)? It will make it a lot easier for someone to help you.

You don't have to add Rep if I have helped you out (but it would be nice), but please mark the thread as SOLVED if your issue is resolved.

Re: Updating employee rates with a spreadsheet that contains the date of change and new ra

    Hi,

I am attaching first the picture of the report which shows the number of hours the employees worked on a given date and the salary as of 1 Jan 2015.

The second picture shows the date of the salary change of the employee and the new salary.

The third picture shows the desired result, e.g. have the salaries updated in the first pic by using the second attachement without manual work.

Thank you in advance for the advice.
