EXCEL Currency calculations

When a table is formatted as currency, does it do calculations based only on the two decimal places or does it calculate to as many decimal places required and display only 2.

For example, $7 divided by 6 gives 1.17 or does it in background do any further calculations based on that cell use the value 1.16666666666667 etc ?

In the user interface, operations are always performed at full precision.

Excel works with 14 decimal number precision... at least on v. 2016... I don't know if it is lower on other versions
So: 7 / 6 = 1,166666666666670000000

Try put in one cell the value 1,1111111111111111111111111 and check the result... it will reduce the decimal numbers to the max it can see

Currency formatting is just formatting for presentation. The values behind the formatting are not affected.

I presume that's the standard default setting with virgin Excel Applications.
