Alternative to pulling data with a formula to resolve sorting issues.

I currently have a "current year" sheet with names listed in column 1, numerical attributes related to the names in following columns, then a score based on the attributes in the last column. The next few sheets are previous years formatted the same way (names in column 1 and the same attributes in the following columns) except with no score as the last column. My goal is to have the first sheet, "current year", populate its attributes by a drop down menu where a single year or average of all years can be selected AND be able to sort the 'score' in the last column (which is based off of the populated attributes). I created an encompassing IF function in each attribute cell to pull data from a specific year sheet based on the drop down menu selection, but sorting a table with formulas never works. I am wondering if there is an alternative option to populate each person's attributes for a given year without having a formula in each attribute cell, so that the table may be sorted.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

It would be a lot easier to understand what you need if you attach a sample workbook with a few explanations and examples of what you want to see.

    Regards,

    David

Please remember, your request is clearer if you attach a sample workbook.

Agree that seeing a sample workbook will help greatly

Also, have you considered using =RANK() or LARGE() to rank or list your data?
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Here is my main sheet. Starting at row 22 and down, Columns J through AC are pulling data from sheets 2, 4 or an average based on the selection from the drop down menu at H19. The data is populated with an IF function in each cell. Column AP is the score which I would like to sort, but gets skewed if I change H19 then try and sort (because of the formulas).

The =RANK() and =LARGE() functions are nice, but do not visualize the data like I am hoping for.

Any thoughts after seeing the worksheet? Can a Pivot Table populate fields without calculations based on like values (player names)?

Sorry for delay - don't know about others, but I have been blocked from the site for a few days!

When I asked for a copy of the workbook, I meant the actual workbook - not a screenshot.

Your request appears complex, so we really need to see what is going on in your model.
