Data Connection Formatted as Table without removing connection

Is there a way to use a data connection to pull in data from an API and format it as a table without removing the connection?

I am not quite sure what you mean by "pull data from an API." If this can be defined as a data source then MS-Query might help.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
