    Panel data.

Hi guys, new to this forum and not an experienced user of excel! Im trying to make panel data in excel to be able to to regressions in R-programing.

I found this topic here which helped me with some of the data, but not all: http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...-into-one.html

Any smart tip how to get data looking like this:

    Company 1 Company 2 Company 3
    2005 1.5 1.8 0.8
    2006 1.2 1.1 0.7
    2007 1 0.9 1.2

Into a long list looking like this:

    2005 1.5
    2006 1.2
    2007 1
    2005 1.8
    2006 1.1
    2007 0.9
    2005 0.8
    2006 0.7
    2007 1.2

    Thanks!

What didn't you understand about the solutions in that thread (both formula-based and the macro)?

It would help if you posted a sample Excel workbook - the FAQ describes how to.

    Re: Panel data.

    Hi Pete, thanks for answering!

It is probably me that just are to inexperienced with excel.

The macro worked perfectly fine for most of the data, but some of it is set up in a different way and I it doesnt match to the
formula ether and im not good enough to redo the formula when it is set up in a different way.. :/

I have attached a workbook with some of my data.

    EDIT: Problem fixed

    Re: Panel data.

Solved the problem myself, very simple ofcourse and a dummy mistake, could just transpose the data and the macro worked!

If i have data as in the new worksheet attached to this post, is there anyway to make this into panel data with 3 different categories?

Or must the data be separately for the transition to be smooth ?
