Help with parsing out entries in one column into separate columns

    Hi all,
This is my first post. I am not an Excel user. I have a .csv file with about 1259 contacts. I have attached the problem column Phonetype. I need those types separated into separate columns so they can go into Infusionsoft as Home, Cell, Business separate fields. Is there a way to do this? Notice that the contact name is repeated causing duplicate entries due to the PhoneType column. Thanks for you help in advance.

Re: Help with parsing out entries in one column into separate columns

    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, a lot of use can't see uploaded pictures so can't help you. It would be very much better to upload an Excel file that can be worked with.

I could see your picture and have this suggestion: Select the data in column J then click on the Data tab, Text to Columns, Delimited, Next, Select OTHER and enter a : in the box, click FINISH. This will separate the values at the : . Make sure that you have column K and maybe even column L empty to make room for the data.

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window (or use the paperclip icon).
