    Continue Border for additional columns

I have a workbook that I use to sort and display data from two other workbooks output by an old ERP system.

I use a macro to pull the data I need and then do some calculations and enter comments for a weekly meeting.

When I bring in the data from the other workbook it is already formatted with borders.
I would like to have the columns I add to the right to have the borders on the sam rows as the imported data.
It is not one continuous table (with borders) but has several (5-8) rows in between with no border then another section with borders.

Is there a way to use conditional formatting to copy the border setting of the cell directly to the left of the cell. (ie. if the cell to the left has "outside" border then set the cell to have the same.)

I know I can set the border condition as a function in conditional format, but what formula do I use to give me the condition of the borders on the cell to the left?

Select the area to be formatted starting in the upper left corner. Include the area that doesn't have data that you want to have the border. My upper left corner was B1 and my selection was from B1:H100
Go to Conditional Formatting, New Rule, Use Formula, and enter this formula
    Formula: copy to clipboard

In the Format section choose Border. Select the colour and the borders in the graphic that you want to have deselecting those that you don't want.

    Hi,

You'll need a Sheet Change macro to achieve this. One way would be

Please Login or Register to view this content.
which will add a border to any cell where there's a value in the cell to its left. Alternatively
Please Login or Register to view this content.
will detect whether there's a border around the cell to the left.
