Hi all,
I have a series of numbers in a Column. Most of the cells empty the actual numbers being intermittent. So to check the sum of these numbers I looked down to the Excel default sum, that is housed on the bottom bar in excel(on the right hand side).Something didn't ring true about the sum amount,so I did an =SUM and got a different figure.
I then checked it manually and found out that the +SUM function had produced the correct figure, and the default figure was wrong(by almost double).
Is there a reason for this, could it be because I have blank cells as well as numbers in the column.Another point that might be of significence is that the number in the said columns was arrived at by using a formula .I cant see how that would effect it but I am new to a lot of Excel.Am I making a common mistake.Any suggestions most welcome.
Kind Regards
John
