    Dynamic Weighted Average Problem

In my excel spread sheet I have a list of values (8) that the user chooses inputs from on the list. Then in the adjacent column it asks for the user to Label the importance of that input from "None,Low,Medium,"High." I want to take those and make a dynamically changing weighted average where its on a % basis with a max of 100%. Currently with my working model, unless I set everything to high I get a very low % value. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I could get this to work for the user? Prior to this working model, I was having the users just input the weight on each value and expecting them to make the total weights applied be equal to 100, which is exactly what I'm trying to avoid.

Moreover, if the user decided to list everything as the same "Low," "Medium," or "High," then I would like to evenly distribute the weight, but currently it simply scales it.

Any tips or suggestions would be very helpful.

    Re: Dynamic Weighted Average Problem

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The best thing you can do is upload the workbook in which you've entered some typical user inputs.
Manually add the results you want to see telling us which cells are the original data and which are results.

Once we can see the request in context it will be easier to assist.

    Re: Dynamic Weighted Average Problem

Here is a bare boned example of what I'm trying to create, as well as the issue I'm having. I want the user to be able to change the importance and have the weight of the importance values change accordingly and adjust while still scaling it on a % basis (maximum of 100).
