Names to be different colours using conditional formatting

    Hi there,

I'm looking for conditional formatting to make each name a different colour as they will go into the same cell. For example, Cell A1 can have Jess & Ross. I have a lot of names, so it's impractical to put in a new role for each individual outcome. Therefore, I'm looking for the ability to make sure Jess is always in blue and Ross always in red, so when I type Jess & Ross into 1 cell, Jess will be blue, and Ross is red. Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks.

You can't do that with conditional formatting - CF applies to the whole cell only, so can't be used to partially colour a cell.

    Hi Pete,

I was worried this would be the case. Is there anything I can do to try to get this to work? VBA perhaps?

I've seen it done with VBA, but my skills aren't that advanced - perhaps you should re-post in the VBA Forum.
