Swap content in a single cell

Hi guys,

I have to create a huge database for tomorrow and I encountered a problem. I have a column of exam dates where half of the values is in date format. The other half is in 'general' format and written as mm-dd-yyyy. Now, I want to convert those 'general' texts to dd-mm-yyyy date format. Of course I checked online and I found several solutions that all didn't work. I think an 'easy' way out would be a function that just swaps the values from mm-dd to dd-mm.

Example: I have here 08/20/2013. Excel does not recognise it as mm/dd/yyyy. If I change it to 20/08/2013 by hand, it recognises it! Since I have 10 databases with 5000 entries it would be awesome if someone could write me a little function to do just that. You'd save my presentation tomorrow!

I use excel 2010.

Welcome to the board.

Select the column, Data > Text to columns, Next, Next, tick Date: DMY, press Finish.
